Having a hygrometer is important for maintaining a healthy living and/or working environment, for protecting the space itself (e.g., wooden floors, wooden surfaces, etc.), and in some cases, for protecting objects that are particularly sensitive to humidity levels (e.g., wooden musical instruments). In our case, we needed all three. After getting tired of dealing with an overpriced and completely inaccurate Extech thermometer-hygrometer (yes, one of those that theoretically can be calibrated with special salts that are equally expensive, which did not work in our case), we decided to try the inexpensive TP49 from ThermoPro. Given the very good price for buying three instead of one, we preferred the three-pack, which is also the easiest way to check their accuracy. Our reasoning was that if they show the same readings (within the manufacturer’s deviation limits), it’s almost certain that they are accurate, while if they show different readings, then you probably can’t trust them. And bingo, when they are in the same room, they all give very similar readings, and so we have the accuracy we need (as much as is needed for normal household use, not laboratory-level accuracy for chemistry or manufacturing). By having three, we also have a very easy way to verify from time to time that they remain accurate. Another big plus: in the past, we needed warranty support from ThermoPro for a cooking thermometer that had a problem, and the handling and resolution of the issue were as good as it gets. For all the above reasons, I highly recommend the three-pack of TP49s, both for the thermometer function (which is the easy part) and for the much more technically demanding (see accuracy) hygrometer function.

These are very accurate! The one that is at 50% is in my bedroom with a humidifier running and the door closed! As you can see, the humidifier is almost Identical to this little device!The one that reads 30% is in my kitchen, the main floor of the house where I have no humidifier running, and the reason why I got these, to know if I should have one for the main floor or not!The one that reads 29% is in my rec room where I keep a dehumidifier which we don’t run in the winter but do keep it on all winter, this one reads 33% while this little guy reads 29% which is off by a small amount.The three temperatures are slightly different. I keep my house at 72 degrees in the winter.The one that reads 69 degrees is in my upstairs bedroom with the door closed and a cool mist humidifier running.The one that reads 71.8 degrees is on the main floor in my kitchen and is only .2 off from where my heat is set.The one that reads 70.5 degrees is in the rec room, that’s always going to be colder than the rest of the house because… it’s a basement! But also good to know the temperature down there, because so many people complain that it’s cold down there in the winter, if the temperature drops too much, I can run my extra heaters!All in all, I am happy that I got these. Now I know I need a humidifier for the main floor, and can hopefully get a whole house one that will actually cover the whole main floor. I may possibly have one for the rec room as well! But having these gadgets lets me know the accuracy of my furnace, and the accuracy of my humidifier, and dehumidifier as well.For the price, and the fact that you get 3 of them, which I needed, I am very happy. And they are magnetic to boot!!!

It all was completely intuitive, except the button to switch between celcius and fahrenheit being small and on the back. And that worked great once I read about it in the instructions. I love that the batteries are standard AAA, and very easy to replace, including the battery door seeming simple to access, yet secure and reasonably rugged. So cheap batteries, rechargable batteries, etc. are reasonable options for this. Plus, supposedly the batteries last about 18 months (I can’t confirm this).I used the modes with it propped up with the fold-out stand on a flat surface and with the magnet on my refrigerator door, and both were dandy. It looks like it would also hang OK for those who want to do that, but I didn’t actually try that.There was a little booklet explaining the functions (in reasonable sized print with my reading glasses) and a list of support numbers to call, by country.By getting 3 as a pack, I was able to use 3 close together (as a test) and determine they’re quite accurate in both the temp. and humidity readings, as claimed.With a new HVAC system, I wanted a better understanding of the temps at the periphery rooms of my house vs. the central hallway, and re the humidity with the system running, and these handle that well.My only slight criticisms are:1). That the settings for “comfort” re the human face icon are arbitrary and appear not to be adjustable, so somwehat useless IMO. Seems mostly like a marketing gimmick to me. (For example, I’m skinny and cold natured, so “comfortable” to be would be a warmer temp range than the one they chose).2). There appears to be no backlight or option for one, so if it’s dark you can’t see the numbers at all. Not a big deal, and especially given the batteries last so long (re their claim), but some folks might like that option (which might cost more, take more batteries, etc).Overall, for the price, this was better and more convenient than expected.

First order I bought 2 of them. They are very accurate that I bought the three pack next time out so I harvest 5 around our home. We have 5 bedroom in a 3600sq ft home with a completely finished basement. As with any floor you’ll see a slight difference in temperature which this product also has. The humidity is what I really want to see. Our humidity unit on our furnace has a sensor connected to the outside of the house and will move the humidity automatically. When I look at the control pad the difference from the furnace to these devices is no more the 1-2% anywhere in the house. Fantastic. This tells me my unit on the furnace operating 100%. I recommend these for you home. Easy to set up and understand love the smiley face!

I have purchased these over 10 times and I like them. They are used in a Juice factory.Pros-They appear very accurate.-Battery lasts a decent amount of time.Cons-They are not water proof, and don’t hold up well to high humidity.-Does take several minutes for thermometer to report current temp and humidity. Although. this is expected and not really a large fault.Summary-I recommend.
