Good price and pretty easy to use
I like that it’s easy to use after you figure it out. The beeping isn’t very loud especially if you’re hard of hearing. I definitely needed the instructions because it was a bit confusing. The temp reads differently than my in the mouth thermometer by about .7 degrees. I do like the bright display and ease of functionality once I finally figured it out. I would recommend keeping the instructions with the item in the nice bag that came with it as one doesn’t use it sometimes for a long time and you will forget how it works. I give it four stars only because I am not certain how accurate it is.

Reasonable price. Very easy to use. The accuracy is off. If you scan the same person same spot its not just a few point off its alot off.

Close enough, consistent enough
Things to know:The switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius is a physical toggle in the battery compartment.You want to be 1.2 inches or closer to what’s being measured. For my forehead, I went with contact (zero inches) and got consistent temp of 97.6, plus or minus a tenth of a degree Fahrenheit. So when I use this, that will be noted as my personal baseline. If, all other things being equal, I start to register 98.6 on this device, that’s a one-degree fever.I have an ear thermometer and a swipe-across-your-forehead thermometer that are no more consistent and accurate as this is, I would argue both are slightly less consistent.(Aside, IMHO the only way to be pretty darn sure you are as accurate as you can be is to use a rectal thermometer, and nobody, especially me, is actually gonna do that. Everything else is subject to environmental interference.)You can switch this over to another mode to measure the temperature of objects instead of people. But there is no reason to do so if you already have a relatively inexpensive device that does this from across the room, unlike this one that wants to be within an inch or so.When I switched to that “object” mode, suddenly my forehead registered as five degrees cooler than when I was in “people” mode, forehead mode, whatever it’s called. So, not really trusting the object mode.For measuring the forehead temp of a human with little fuss, this gives consistent readings, is easy as pie to use, is easy to read, and if you take a moment while everyone is healthy to take a half dozen readings per human, write down whose temperature is what, you’ll have baselines and therefore get a decent thumbnail guess as to whether you or they have a fever.Had they never said “and this will measure the temp of objects too” I would rate it five star, because for taking human temperatures, it is.

Nifty thermometer
This is better than expected. I already have several pricier no-touch thermometers, and got this one because of its ability to measure not just body temperature, but room temperature (none of my other thermometers do that; they measure just one or the other). Having tested it now over several days, it seems to work fine for that, and appears directionally accurate – the readings clearly and quickly change when measuring body temp vs room temp. The readings are ~1-2 degrees off when compared to my other thermometers, but it’s tough to say which ones are the most accurate. This level of precision is enough for my purposes (though I recognize it might not be in other use cases).The thermometer uses two AAA batteries, which I prefer to rechargeable, especially since I only plan to use this on a sporadic as-needed basis. On mine, the battery compartment cover does *not* secure tightly, which is an annoyance; I dropped the thermometer once (it’s encased in a glossy/slippery plastic, another downside), and it popped right off. The cover is made of a thin, cheap plastic, so it might get even looser over time.My other complaint is that the controls (e.g., to switch between body and room temperature) are a tad fiddly, requiring a few non-intuitive steps.. having dedicated buttons or switches for the different modalities would be more user friendly. That said, the provided instructions walk you through how to do this, and are pretty clear/decent overall, as far as user guides go.
