    Great journal prompts
This book has terrific journal prompts that really allow you to dig into your perfectionism. As someone who generally thinks most journal prompts are crap, this is high praise. I was genuinely impressed, and they’ve made me think. At the same time, I found myself challenged to answer some of them because they seem to assume I fully recognize perfectionism in myself and my daily life. When do you draw the line between doing a piss-poor job and doing something correctly, OR in being a perfectionist about something? The examples I thought of were all doing things “the right way.” I would have liked this to be teased out more instead of assuming we are fully versed in our perfectionistic tendencies.

    Helpful, thoughtful, and mindful
I was given an advance copy, and it had perfect timing: a major transition in life. As a recovering perfectionist, this book helped me to stop and think. The exercises encouraged me to pause & remember I don’t have to be perfect, that I will make mistakes, and that life will go on more smoothly (& successfully) if I let go of that need to be perfect. This book also would be helpful to therapists & counselors who are working with people who have perfection-driven anxiety. It gently digs a little deeper, and reminds people that there is much we can control within our lives. There is the steady message that imperfection is, indeed, beautiful, and this book helps us to appreciate & honor our imperfect selves just as we are.

A powerful tool for those hoping to break old patterns
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher, and as a clinician I’ve found it to be an incredibly helpful tool to share with clients. I appreciate how it covers options for all aspects of contemporary life, with specific resources dedicated to addressing how social media can often trigger challenging perfectionist thoughts/behaviors. That’s something I have found missing from similar resources in the past. Extremely helpful for those seeking to change patterns of negative self-talk due to perfectionism. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to supplement their current therapy work or anyone who would like to have less inner stress and pressure.

    Approachable, Insightful, and Helpful
Disclaimer: I did receive an advance copy of the journal from the publisher.I really, really like this journal. As a professional counselor with perfectionist leanings, I found the prompts both encouraging and educational. The questions start as an invitation to explore the space you’re in, before guiding you towards deeper awareness and insight. I appreciate the mindfulness leanings of the journal, especially the process of sitting with the anxiety of perfectionism and allowing yourself to be curious. There’s also some guided grounding and self-soothing skills taught throughout, which are helpful resources for many situations. I appreciated having this journal for myself but I’ll be sharing it with others as well.
